Turnagain Arm Trail is a very scenic coastal trail that runs through the trees with views of Turnagain Arm, the Kenai Mountains, and the Cook Inlet. It runs on the opposite side of the Seward Highway from Turnagain Arm and has several access points.
From west to east, access points include Potter Trailhead (MP 115), McHugh Creek Trailhead (MP 112), Rainbow Trailhead (MP 108), and Windy Corner Trailhead (MP 106). Along the way, enjoy varying gradients and a mixed tread as you make your way above the water.
Please do not take bear safety lightly on this trail--several maulings have occurred on this very trail. Carry bear deterrent (e.g. spray), make lots of noise, and consider leaving the headphones in the car. Both moose and bear use this trail for travel.
This trail has an easy/intermediate rating due to intermittent grades above 10%.
