Description
From the Glen Alps trailhead, head out on the connector trail that leads to Powerline Pass Trail. Hope on the Powerline Pass Trail for a brief spell before turning onto Middle Fork Loop Trail. Take this to the junction and turn right to follow O'Malley Peak Trail. Once you reach the crest you can opt to take the short spur to Little O'Malley Peak, otherwise, just continue onwards. The trail heads up part of the valley known as the "Ballpark" before diverting southeast to ascend the mountain. Here is where things get challenging. While its a little less than a mile to the summit, the trail steepens and gets a bit rockier. Watch for loose rocks underfoot as you make your way up the ridge, around the back and to the summit. From the top of O'Malley Peak, enjoy spectacular views of the Anchorage area and surrounding mountains of Chugach State Park.
