This trail is the first completed segment of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, which is part of the Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT). With the use of several overland connections, this section of Little Sugar Creek Greenway starts off of 7th Street near I-277 and ends off of Brandywine Road near Park Road Shopping Center. There is one section that uses sidewalk (Irby and Johnston Drive), but the path is clearly marked to designate that you are still on part of the greenway.
The trail connects to Freedom Park which is one of the most popular and scenic parks in the Charlotte area, as well as the Charlotte Nature Museum. The trail also connects to Carolinas Medical Center/ Levine Children's Hospital, and shopping and restaurants at the Metropolitan shopping area near uptown Charlotte. Past the Metropolitan shopping area, visitors can head north on Charlottetown Avenue and up Stonewall Street to access uptown Charlotte or continue East down the greenway to access the Central Piedmont Community College campus. Little Sugar Creek Greenway: 7th Street to Brandywine Road creates a fantastic corridor for walking, running, and biking.
Parking is available near Metropolitan Shopping Center, Freedom Park, or Park Road Shopping Center.
