Path Type
Point to Point
Not the most exciting trail on it's own, but one that is very useful for making loops in Forest Park near Pittock Mansion. This trail begins from Cumberland Road which may not be an obvious place to start hiking Forest Park unless you live in the Hillside neighborhood (there also isn't any public parking here to speak of). However, the neighborhood has some posh homes and lovely views of the major volcanoes/downtown Portland, so using this trail in conjunction with the Wildwood Trail can result in some good touristy loop options (consider using streets to connect to the mansion or head down Cumberland to 23rd Street). From the road, the trail enters the lush forest and slowly descends to an intersection with Tunnel Trail in a ravine. After Tunnel Trail it climbs along the edge of the slope until it hits the far more popular Wildwood Trail.
