South Park Trail #600

I have not completed most of this trail. I can only talk about the portion of trail from the top of Guanella Pass to Squaretop Lakes. If anyone has any information to add about the lower portion of this trail, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Depending on your direction of travel, Guanella Pass could be either the beginning or end of your day for the South Park Trail. I will describe Guanella Pass from the beginning for this description. From the west side of Guanella Pass, start your hike towards Squaretop Lakes on the South Park Trail. It is ~2 miles to the lakes at the base of Squaretop Mountain and the Lakes themselves. When I went, the trail was clearly defined through the willows, however, I have read different trip reports of people having some troubles depending on the time of year. Once at the lakes, make your way up the east facing grassy slopes of Squaretop Mountain if that is your destination or head south on the South Park Trail to continue your day. The trail from Squaretop Lakes to the "end" of the hike to the south is unknown so I will not describe it here.
