Sawmill is often not much more than a faint singletrack through the woods. There's just something really cool about following that faint trail--it really makes you feel like you're in the backcountry. There isn't anything extreme on this trail. There are stretches with a lot of rocks, but only a precious few of those rocks are ever very big. Like all the trails in the area, most of the rocks are football-sized or less, and are cinder/volcanic rock.
There is never a very big climb or descent on this trail, but lots of good hiking with twisty-turny singletrack in the forest. It hikes equally well in either direction. The trail is well marked with white diamonds on a tree roughly every 100 yards.
