The Pine Grove and Lakeshore Loop starts from the Salmon River parking area in the day-use section of Selkirk Shores State Park. The route combines the Pine Grove Trail’s shaded, inland section with the Lakeshore Trail’s scenic shoreline path. Begin by heading into the pine forest, where well-maintained, flat paths wind through stands of evergreens. Continue toward the lake, following the Frog Pond Trail to the Lakeshore Trail reaching the park’s western boundary.
Along the lake’s edge, the trail passes low bluffs with sweeping views across Lake Ontario. Shoreline stretches can be breezy and slippery in wet conditions, so use caution near exposed areas. The park is a recognized birdwatching area, with chances to spot bald eagles and a variety of migratory species. There is no camping or fires allowed on this trail, but the nearby campground supports overnight stays. This is a relaxed and accessible route for families, birders, or anyone seeking easy hiking near the water.
