Loop
This loop starts from the northern trailhead of School Mountain Road. There is only parking lot for two cars at the trailhead so arrive early. Follow School Mountain Road for about a half mile. On the left is the start of the Wiccopee Trail marked with blue discs. Turn left and follow for this trail for about 2 miles. The Wiccopee Trail winds through the forest with some very rocky sections. There are no real steep points and no views. After 1.5 miles on the Wiccopee Trail, you'll pass the Clove Creek Trail on the right. Turn left to follow Wiccopee Trail until it ends at the start of the Charcoal Burners Trail. Charcoal Burners Trail is marked with red discs. This trail is very easy and has a constant slight downhill. There is one view point near the start of the Charcoal Burners Trail. Follow this until you reach a trail junction with the Fahnestock Trail. This section is very shaded and the trail is lined with ferns in the summer. After about one mile on the Fahnestock Trail, you'll reach a trail junction and start of the Clove Creek Trail. Again this is an easy section all the way to you reach the Wiccopee Trail. Turn left of the Wiccopee Trail and retrace all the way back to School Mountain Road. Turn right and hike back to your car. While this hike does not have many viewpoints, it is a beautiful forest that see very little hiking traffic. This is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature.
