This short hiking trail has plenty of side trails before the peak, Table Rock. There are also a few camping spots along the trail itself, as well as along the road coming up to the trailhead (Forest Service Road 210 B). It is an awesome location for mountaineers, and there are usually a few climbers out. While the 1-mile trip to the top of the trail takes less than an hour to reach, the hike can be strenuous at times; the trail gains just over 600 feet from the trailhead. The area is a great place for exploration, and there are some as incredible views before you even reach the top. The area has been prone to wildfires, and along the hike there is plenty of evidence of these fires. However, the pines need these fire to regenerate and continue reproducing. The Linville Gorge Wilderness is the largest wilderness area in North Carolina, and the views along this hike illustrate the magnificence of the Appalachian Mountains. Aside from the Table Rock Hike, there are numerous other day hikes and multi-day hikes throughout the gorge.
