Hayden Lollipop Loop

The Hayden Lollipop Loop is a moderately challenging hike located at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This hike has a mixture of paved and unpaved trail. This loop is 10.2 miles and gains under 150 feet of elevation.This hike begins from the parking lot of the Elm Creek Swimming Pond. Begin hiking north around the swimming pond before connecting to Lake Trail. After 0.5 miles, you will reach the Elm Creek Reserve Trail. From here, there is a great view of Goose Lake. Take this trail to the left for just 0.2 miles before following the Mud Lake Loop trail north.Travel along this paved trail for 0.9 miles until you cross a road. Here you will see signage for mile 4 of the Hayden Loop. Follow this mowed grass trail to the right. Here you will be hiking through a mixture of deciduous forest and open prairie. It is common to see wildlife such as birds and deer.After following the Hayden Loop Trail for 4 miles, the trail will connect with the paved Elm Creek Reserve Trail. Continue on the trail for 2.9 miles before following the Hayden Loop to the left. Follow this trail for 1 mile before coming to the mile 4 sign on the Hayden Loop. You have now finished the loop and will retrace your steps from the beginning of the hike to return to the Elm Creek Swimming Pond parking lot.The Hayden Lollipop Loop is not open for hiking in the winter. There are no fees to hike at Elm Creek Park Reserve. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. Portions of this trail also allow bikers and horseback riders, so be sure to be aware of your surroundings. The Hayden Lollipop Loop is a great option for those looking for a longer hike near the Minneapolis metro area.
