Access Issues
Open from 8:00 a.m. to sundown, 365 days a year. There is a $6 entrance fee for cars, though this also gets you access to all the trails (they can give you a full map of the area), and of course swimming in the springwater and manatee viewing in the winter during cold snaps.

Description
The Hardwood Trail is part of Manatee Springs State Park's 8.5 miles of trails. The trail follows an old dirt road that is level, soft, and smooth. You can reach the trail from multiple trailheads along the main park road. You can connect the Hardwood Trail with several other trails in the area to make for longer hikes such as the Scenic Trail or Fence Trail. If you're lucky, you might see an armadillo!
