The road immediately prior to the Hannegan Pass trailhead is washed out completely, blocking access to the main parking area. Parking is along the side of the road and can get very busy. An early start is recommended.
Path Type
Point to Point
The route leaves from the Hannegan Pass Trail at Hannegan Pass and immediately climbs steeply on a series of switchbacks. The trail ascends through patches of forest and alpine meadows before gaining the ridge of Hannegan Peak. Continue up the trail for a little over a mile to gain the rocky Hannegan Peak.
The views from the peak are well worth the trip. The summit offers 360-degree views of the jagged North Cascade Peaks. Look south towards Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Ruth Mountain, and Nooksack Ridge. To the north look into the peaks of British Columbia, and to the east the Picket Range.
