Woodbine Falls is an impressive welcome to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Snowmelt from the Stillwater Plateau feeds Woodbine Creek, which thunders down steep rocky cliffs to form the falls. The falls may have earned its namesake from woodbine plants, vine plants that can fall in a serpentine fashion. Find the short trail to Woodbine Falls tucked away in rural Montana past a small town called Nye. The hike begins from Woodbine Campground. The trail is short and well-developed with an easy climb on switchbacks. En route, cross a bridge over Woodbine Creek, walk under the thick cover of pines, and even enjoy a quick walk through a flower-laden meadow. Keep a watchful eye out for a burst of color in the trees. The western tanager can be seen flitting about the forest during breeding season. Catch the best view of Woodbine Falls at the overlook. Donat forget to turn around to view the canyon formed by the Stillwater River. This overlook is surrounded by a stone wall, making this hike suitable for younger ages.
