Loop
The hike to the top of Oberg Mountain is short and very rewarding. The trail has about a 230-foot climb, but once you reach the the top you'll enjoy a flat loop around the peak of the mountain. You'll also be able to go in either direction. It is recommended to head to the right first because you'll be saving the best viewpoints for last. There are many different vistas to stop for breaks and photos. Some lookouts have railings, but most don't, so be safe. Watch your children because there are many cliffs. You'll see views of the Great Lake Superior, Superior National Forest, and Oberg Lake. This is a great location to catch a sunrise and sunset. Just remember to bring your headlamp for the hike down if you watch the sunset here. You can visit this spot all year round, but make sure to come in fall when the maples are at their peak.
