This 2.5-mile-long round trip trek takes hikers to a scenic overlook of Lake Agnes using the Superior Hiking Trail (https://superiorhiking.org/). The overlook is known as Hunters Rock. This hike begins where the Superior Hiking Trail crosses South Caribou Drive. From U.S. Highway 61 near Lutsen take County Road 4 (the Caribou Trail) for 2.9 miles and take a right onto South Caribou Drive. After 0.2 miles there is limited parking on the north side of the road. This hike is quite level gaining just over hundred feet of elevation; most of the gain is at the end of the hike when climbing up to Hunters Rock. Dogs are allowed the Superior Hiking Trail, but must be on a leash. To begin this hike head west on the Superior Hiking Trail which is marked with blue blazes; after 0.2 miles the trail crosses County Road 4. After another 0.2 miles the trail crosses a gravel road and continues until it meets the shores of Lake Agnes at the 0.8-mile mark. From here the trail follows near the shore until it reaches the East Lake Agnes Campsite which is located on a peninsula. From the campsite it is a short hike up to Hunters Rock which is marked with a sign. Hunters Rock is about 80 feet above lake level and provides sweeping views of the Lake Agnes. This view is especially stunning in the fall when the numerous maple trees are turning orange and red. After taking in the views, return the way you came. An alternate way to hike to Hunters is by starting at the Caribou Lake Boat launch which is about a mile further up County Road 4. From there take the White Sky Rock spur trail which meets the main Superior Hiking Trail a bit before the East Lake Agnes Campsite.
