Point to Point
This trail starts at the Cape Sebastian Viewpoint parking lot off Highway 101, 5.0 miles south of Gold Beach and just north of milepost 335. From there, it is an asphalt path out to a viewpoint at the tip of the cape. Then, it becomes a dirt trail that switchbacks down some 1,000 feet through a Sitka spruce forest, to a rocky bench at the base of the cape. Here, waves pound and explode off of the cape's bedrock in all weathers. The trail contours on the rocky bench and then drops to the beach. A handline has been installed to make it easier to negotiate the last 20 feet or so to and from the beach.
Explore the beach and return the way you came or, if you've arranged a shuttle, go south on the beach (paying attention to the tides) for about a mile to the Myers Creek Wayside.
