From the Sand Cove trailhead, Rim Rock Trail starts as doubletrack heading SE. The doubletrack switchbacks right and drops down into Sand Cove wash. There is a technical ledgy spot about half way down the hill. Drop into the wash, stay left and then climb the hill on the singletrack to your south (right). At the top of the climb it becomes doubletrack again. Follow this doubletrack keeping right at the junctions. Don't get discouraged by the doubletrack. There is a lot of great singletrack coming. This will lead you to a fence crossing. After crossing the fence take the singletrack trail heading west and follow the signs. There are a lot of intersections with other trails but they are all well marked. Simply follow the signs around the lollipop loop and back to the trailhead. This trail is a little less technical than Barrel Roll, but there is more climbing because the trail drops into the wash and climbs out twice.
The trail is mostly a firm coarse sandy soil with large rounded rocks. It is a great trail if other local trails are too muddy. This trail can be done in either direction, but clockwise is the most fun.
