Little Bearwallow Mountain

Little Bearwallow Mountain is a hiking trail under development and maintained by the Carolina Land Mountain Conservancy. The hike travels 1 mile through old-growth forests to a waterfall that drops down over 100 feet of granite rock face. You will walk beside beautiful creeks where the forest is lush with insects and plant life. This is a great area to see a variety of wildflower species. The parking area for this hike is marked with a sign and a very old chimney that still stands. Walk across the road behind the parking area to the trailhead for Little Bearwallow Mountain. The trail is initially well defined and somewhat steep in parts; stone steps facilitate the climb through dense forest up to the waterfall. Keep an eye out for spectacular views in the gaps between trees. Beyond the waterfall, the hiking becomes more challenging and the trail is not fully developed. Use caution and take yor time as you make your way through the forest. Continue to the summit of Little Bearwallow Mountain and Wildcat Rock.
