Description
Starting at the trailhead, it is roughly 3/4 mile down to Blue Lake at a steady descent of about 400 ft. It is an out and back trail, so returning may be slightly more difficult as there will be a 400 ft. assent over 3/4 mile. There are numerous campsites around the lake, some larger ones for bigger groups. It is a busy site, so you'll want to get there early if you are camping to be sure that you get the campsite that you want. There is ample parking at the trailhead, and if that is full, there is another lot across the road that many use. It can be muddy and wet when negotiating the area around the lake. This is a great trail for day hiking and for taking a younger family camping.
