Alakai Swamp Trail

To access the Alakai Swamp Trail, make your way to Mohihi Rd. The entrance to the Alakai Swamp Trail isn't far from the terminus of the Pihea Trail, and there will be a dirt pull out where you can park. Conversely, if you started the Pihea Trail from the end of the road at the lookout, this is the trail that you turn on to get to the Kilohana Lookout. This trail is one of the more unique trails in the park, and due to the swamp environment, you'll find yourself on boardwalks for a portion of this trail. In general, the boardwalks are fairly well maintained, and the way will be mostly level. You'll come to a stream crossing where both the descending and ascending banks are quite steep, so you'll want to be prepared with proper ankle support here. The end of the trail is the expansive Kilohana Viewpoint of the Hanalei Bay and surrounding area.
