Description
The Nature Trail begins and ends at the Cary State Forest Campground and Recreation Area adjacent to the Forest Headquarters. This area has ample parking and is easily accessible directly from HWY 301. The area also has restrooms/showers, pavilion and a resident camp host. The Nature Trail winds its way through mature longleaf and slash pine forests and also has two boardwalks that wind there way through two large cypress swamps. The trail also has interpretive signage which explains the early days of Cary State Forest and the many different ecosystems you encounter along the trail.
