Kineo Mountain and Buckhorn Peak Loop is a challenging hike located in North Cheyenne Canon Park. This hike summits to peaks in the park. This loop is 8.2 miles and gains 2,136 feet of elevation. This hike starts from the Upper Gold Camp Parking Lot. There are portable restrooms available at the trailhead. Begin hiking west on Gold Camp Road. You will be hiking gradually uphill. After 0.7 miles, you will come to a junction and turn right onto Seven Bridges Trail. The trail begins to get steeper here. Continue uphill as you cross North Cheyenne Creek 7 times. After 1.4 miles of hiking, you will come to a junction and go right. 0.4 miles later, you will come to another junction and turn right onto a faint climbers trail. This trail continues uphill and leads to the summit of Kineo Mountain. From the summit, you have great views of Pikes Peak and various other Front Range Peaks. Turn around and retrace your steps to the last junction. Then turn right onto Jones Park 701. You will now be hiking downhill. Stay on this trail for 2.2 miles before taking Captain Jacks Trail 667. After 0.3 miles, take a left onto a climbers trail. 0.3 miles on this trail will lead you to the summit of Buckhorn Peak. From the summit, you will be able to see Mays Peak and the city of Colorado Springs. Return to Captain Jacks Trail 667 and continue east. After 0.6 miles, you will come to a junction and turn right onto High Drive. Follow this trail downhill for 1 mile to return to the trailhead. North Cheyenne Canon Park is open 5am-9pm from November through April. It is open from 5am-10pm from May through October. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash.
