China Flat Trail

This trail is a 5.9 mile hike with a loop in the middle. The trailhead is located on Lindero Canyon Rd between King James Court and Wembly Ave; park on Lindero Canyon Rd. Hiking north from the trailhead, the trail ascends quickly for the first 1.5 miles. At the first intersection with a connector trail to the left, stay right then stay left at the next four intersections. At 1.5 miles the trail levels out and you carry on with only minor dips in the topography until about 4.3 miles, when you begin to descend back down China Flat Trail. At 1.8 miles, you'll have reached China Flat; turn right to say on China Flat Trail. The trail will briefly merge with Palo Comado Canyon Trail, then at 2.2 miles turn left to head on to China Flat Loop East; at about 2.7 miles the trail will cross Palo Comado Canyon Trail again. Stay straight to carry on China Flat Loop West. The trail will turn south and at 3.5 miles turn left to head east back to the start of the loop; on this bit of trail, you'll likely have some nice views of Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains. Turning right at this junction on to Simi Peak Trail would take you to the summit of Simi Peak. At about 4.0 miles take a right to head south on China Flat Trail then another right shortly after to continue south. Thanks to John McKinney, The Trailmaster, for sharing this trail description.
