Description
This is a family friendly trail designed to introduce children (and others new to nature) to native plants and animals, Native American life and the farming history of the area. This trail was completed in 2012 and parts of the new trail were resurrected from an old Park City High School cross-country trail that had been out of use for years. Park off Road 224, head under the underpass, pass the barn and take the Farm Trail west to its intersection with the McPolin Trail. This trail runs through the woods behind the famous Park City landmark, the McPolin/Osguthorpe White Barn. This farmland was first homesteaded in 1886 and the barn was built in 1908 from recycled timber salvaged from an old mine tailings mill. This huge 7468 square foot barn was made without using nails and the 1500 square foot milking barn was added in the 1950's. The farmland and barn were purchased by the citizens of Park City in 1990 to conserve the open space and history of this area.
