Description
Your hike begins at the northernmost tip of the Cross Timber Black Trail. This trail follows an old doubletrack dirt road for the entirety of its journey. There are a couple of short hills that have lots of loose rocks so mind your footing. Other than that, your path is mostly hard pack dirt/sand providing a great surface free of tripping hazards. This trail enjoys sweeping views across a large meadow that is filled with wildflowers and wildlife. Need a break? Spend some time trying to spot one of the red-tailed hawks that call this meadow home. This route is very easy to navigate and is a large loop that eventually dumps you out right back where you started. This trail is also used to connect with the Cross Timbers Orange Trail, Cross Timbers Yellow Trail, and the Primitive Camping Trail. Overall, this route is a nice way to enjoy some sunshine and the local flora and fauna.
