Description
At times nearly primeval, this trail snakes through a variety of eco-zones that reveal unending shades of green, from dark to fluorescent. The climbing seems to go on forever but rewards with sections that see more animal traffic than hikers. The trail can be traveled in a variety of ways: As an out-and-back from the northern trailhead off Forest Service Road #1993. OR Point to point. To access the highpoint of the trail, take Forest Service Road #2638 to Forest Service Road #356 to the upper part of Forest Service Road #1993 at Horsepasture Mountain. If you are interested in hiking this trail as a shuttle, Horse Creek Lodge & Outfitters provides shuttles. More information can be found on their website or by calling 541-822-3243.
