Description
Except for a road crossing, this relatively long section of Ice Age Trail offers an uninterrupted stretch of single to doubletrack trail, crossing rolling hills, passing through prairies, wetlands, and patches of thick forests. The area offers a mixture of agriculture as well, but remains pretty secluded overall. There are a few slightly rocky sections in some forest sections, but overall, this trail is really smooth and gentle on the feet and ankles. Given the wetlands in the area, there is excellent birding along this trail, especially during the migration seasons of spring and late summer/autumn. The prairie flowers can be quite stunning later in the summer as well. The trail is somewhat close to New Glarus, a charming town that offers one of Wisconsin's finest craft breweries and also some local favorite restaurants, making this town fun to visit after an arduous trek on the Ice Age Trail.
