Description
From here, the trail works past FS 510 road in the !Whitehawk Basin and traverses up and down towards the south. Shortly after the start of the trail, you'll pass the Whitehawk Basin Trail. This trail can be used to make a larger loop. Then your next trail junction will be with the Julie Creek Trail intersection at mile five. The Julie Creek Trail is a popular way to make a loop with Deadwood River. After Julie Creek, you'll descend a high ridge overlooking the Deadwood River and move south, passing through conifer forests and crossing many small creeks. Finally, you'll cross the Stevens Point Trail and then a mile later the Stevens Point drainage. You'll finish your descent to the river and end in the Deadwood Campground. Make a loop trip by combining the Julie Creek Trail with the southern portion of the Deadwood Ridge Trail. Or, turn this into a larger loop using the Whitehawk Basin Trail and some forest service roads.
