The Zuma Canyon Trail begins as it diverges from the Zuma Loop Trail at the base of Zuma Canyon. From here the trail heads north, winding back and forth from one side of the canyon to the other while also crossing over Zuma Creek a few times. After hiking for roughly a quarter mile along the trail, the canyon will begin to narrow. After being on trail for three quarters of a mile, the trail starts to disappear as you enter a field full of sizable boulders. At this point the maintained trail ends, and you can either return along the same route or continue your hike on the more strenuous Zuma Canyon Route.
