The trailhead for this route is a little over a quarter mile before the Haystack Mountain Trail parking area - From the trailhead, this trail follows !Capitol Creek to connect to the Capitol Creek Trail (#1961).
The trail itself heads gently uphill, and the most strenuous portion is located right at the beginning. While the route heads up, grades are mostly gentle, making this a good warm up for other, more strenuous trails in the area.
It can be used to make a loop when combined with the Nicholson Creek Trail that skirts along the north side of Haystack Mountain. To get to the Nicholson Creek Trail, simply take a left onto Capitol Creek Trail (#1961) and then take a right after a few hundred yards onto the Nicholson Creek Trail.
