Chestnut Trail

To reach the trailhead, start at the parking lot and head down the bike path. Note the other trails off the paved path you can take before reaching this one. They are more fun! Just after passing the railroad trestle on the bike path, you'll come to the starting point and sign for the Chestnut Trail. Head up the steep stairs and you'll be on your way once you each the top. Keep in mind, you could keep going on the paved trail, and start and the end of the trail and work your way back. This trail was great for fall color in October! Once you climb the stairs, you'll stay on the path winding through the older growth forest on a fairly moderate incline with some rolling hills to start with. The trail will eventually head down into a ravine where you'll cross a small bridge and you'll make your way back up an incline. The trail then levels off for the most part until you reach the end of the trail back down at the paved bike path. Head back the way to came to reach the parking lot - or reverse course and head back through the woods for an alternate view.
