Elk Mountain

The trail surface is an ATV/4x4 accessible road. There are minimal fallen tree obstacles on the trail, and several stream crossings along the way. This is a seldom-used trail. Biking is possible for the first leg on the multi-use Corral Peak #112.6. It is strictly hiking only upon turning NE headed toward the mountain summit (35% grade) on the Elk Mountain Trail #111.1. There are breathtaking view of Grand County at the top above the tree line. Bring a windbreaker as there are cold, choppy winds at the mountain's peak, dropping the air temperature by 20deg on a warm summer day.
