Description
The Camaro Loop is a short and easy hike at the Robles Pass Trail Park near Tucson, AZ. This loop explores the southern end of the Tucson Mountains. The hike is 2.1 miles long and gains a little over 200 feet of elevation.The trailhead for this hike is on South Cactus Wren Ave. Park in the small dirt pullout and begin hiking north on Rocky 13 Trail. After about 200 feet, you will reach a junction with the Camaro Loop Trail. Stay right to take the loop counterclockwise. This loop travels amongst saguaros, prickly pear, ocotillo and various other Sonoran Desert plants.After 0.5 miles, there will be a junction with Boulder Belt Trail. Stay left to continue on the loop. Along this section of trail, there are wonderful views of rock formations and some peaks of the Tucson Mountains.0.4 miles down the trail, you will encounter a junction with Ledge Surfer Trail. Go left to continue the loop. Most of the junctions have maps that make the trail easy to follow. Continue hiking for 0.3 miles, and you will reach another junction. Go left here.There is only 1 mile of trail left before returning to the parking area. After 0.5 miles, make sure to go straight to stay on the Camaro Loop Trail. On this section, you will pass by an abandoned car. Enjoy the last moments of Sonoran Desert scenery as you turn right on Rocky 13 Trail and head to the trailhead.The Camaro Loop is open year-round from dawn to dusk. There are no associated fees to hike at Robles Pass Trail Park. Dogs are allowed on this hike, but they must be on a leash at all times. This trail is also shared with bikers and horseback riders. This hike is an easy way to enjoy fantastic desert views.
