Point to Point
This loop of Madkin Mountain makes for an easy hike for those looking for a moderate loop on an easy trail. While you can access the loop from various trailheads in the area, as mapped here, the route utilizes the short Madkin Wash Trail accessed off of Neal Road to climb to the Level Loop.Madkin Wash is a short, quick climb that will get you nice and warmed up for the remainder of the loop. Once you are up this short connector, the Level Loop (as you might expect from its name) flattens out. You can hike the loop in either direction, and you can expect some very mellow ups and downs no matter which way you go.The trail is primarily singletrack with some sections of roots and rocks to navigate. The woods are dense, and in times the path can be a bit overgrown, so keep an eye open for the path and use the Mobile App to make sure you are on track. In the spring, you can spot a variety of wildflowers along the path.
In 1989, a devastating F4 tornado touched down on Madkin Mountain.
