Chihuahua Hill

Chihuahua Hill rises from the slopes to the east of Bisbee's Brewery Gulch area, with a 1.8 mile out and back trail covering about 700' in total elevation gain over its course.Hikers can find parking in the Brewery Gulch area and begin the hike by heading up Ok Street for a half mile to the dirt trailhead. From here, a steep rocky climb heads up the slopes to a saddle in the center of two hills. At the cairn, head right - a left turn will take you to the top of Youngblood Hill. From the saddle, the trail widens and mellows a bit, to become a straightahead walk as the trail wraps up, hitting views over the mining pits and the town of Lowell. This might be the payoff of the climb, as continuing to the top leads to an area where the low brush cuts off any views and can be a bit of a disappointing peak. However the hike will get the blood pumping, and heading to the top of Youngblood Hill will add some scenery to it if you'd like to tack on a bit of extra distance and climbing.From here, you can retrace your path back to Brewery Gulch. For its near proximity to the center of Bisbee, Chihuahua Hill tends to stay uncrowded, and makes a good spot to get out for a sweaty stretch of the legs.There is almost no shade, and there are no amenities of any kind once you leave downtown. Parking is most abundant in the Brewery Gulch area, however parking here can get pretty hard to find on weekends.
