Description
The hike to Miller Peak is a 9.5-mile out-and-back located in the Huachuca Mountains near the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona. The Crest Trail #103 runs across the spine of the Huachuca Mountains and features expansive views overlooking the San Rafael Valley and surrounding areas. Miller Peak, which rises to 9,466 feet, is the highest point in the Huachuca Mountains and a popular peak bagging destination. The Crest Trail #103 is moderately rated and open to trail running, hiking, and backpacking. Beginning at Montezuma Pass, ascend the Crest Trail #103/Arizona National Scenic Trail (AZT). Over the first four miles, you will climb from approximately 6,500 feet to 9,000 feet. At this point, you will leave the Crest Trail #103 and climb a short, yet steep spur trail to the summit of Miller Peak. Take in the views and your hard work; after that, it's all downhill. Return to Montezuma Pass by retracing your steps and descending Crest Trail #103.
