Loop
From the Cache Creek Trailhead parking lot, locate the Cache Creek Road which begins at the head of the lot. Hike this road for about 4 miles. The road remains wide for most of the way, gently climbing up Cache Creek. Cache Creek flows down, sometimes cascading, on your right. After about 1.5 miles or so, Cache Peak in the Gros Ventre Wilderness will be visible ahead. The road narrows to a two track, and then a singletrack. Just before mile 4, you'll intersect a trail junction to Game Creek. Take a right here. The trail crosses Cache Creek, then takes a steep switchback to the top of the bench, and then eases to the pass between Cache and Game creeks. With two possible paths to take from the saddle, take the trail that ascends the up the ridge to your right. This is the beginning of the Skyline trail. The trail is sort of steep as it switchbacks in the sun to the crest of the ridgeline. The Skyline trail jumps from the shaded side to the sunny side, mostly remaining on the ridge's crest for nearly 4 miles. The trail descends down to a saddle between Skyline and Snow King. At this saddle, you'll find Ferrin's Trail #4037A which descends north. Be mindful of bikers on this trail -- it is very popular among the locals. Ferrin's descends down switchbacks in a nice and shady wooded slope down to Hagen Trail #4037 then to the Cache Creek parking lot.
