Grandview Rim Loop

From the trailhead near Turkey Spur Rd., head south on the dirt-treaded Grandview Rim Trail, climbing steeply through an early section before the grade lessens dramatically. As you climb, be sure to pause at the viewpoints of the New River Gorge along the way. Upon reaching the trail junction with the Castle Rock Trail, continue right along the Grandview Rim Trail for a short while before reaching the Grandview Rim Spur. Take in the scenic vistas atop the spur trail before heading back to the Grandview Rim Trail. Follow the Grandview Rim Trail east to the junction with the Grandview Walkway. Hike east along the walkway to the Main Overlook, before heading back west along the walkway to the junction with the Castle Rock Trail. Head north along the Castle Rock Trail, and be ready for a stunning experience amidst towering walls of stone. Be sure to watch your footing on this trail, as the trail surface is often uneven and can drop off steeply. From here, follow the Castle Rock Trail until it merges with the Grandview Rim Trail, and head north to return to the Turkey Spur Rd. Parking Area.
