Description
The trailheads for the Oakdale Trail begin and end on the Lenape Trail, but it's most commonly accessed from the parking lot across the street from the Orange Reservoir Loop. From there, you can access the Oakdale Trail and choose to head either north or south. At the end of the trail, you can connect to the Lenape Trail to loop back around. The Oakdale Trail is a narrow trail with several steep hills. If you travel south, the hills will be somewhat more gentle and climb over a longer period. The northern end of the trail has a very steep decline. The beginning of the Oakdale Trail is near The Crag, and it offers a scenic overlook of the Orange Reservoir and the South Mountain Reservation. The Oakdale Trail connects to the Lenape Trail, which offers access to other trails, like the Mayapple Loop. You can also easily access the Orange Reservoir Loop from the origin point at the parking lot.
