The Minor's Loop Trail begins at a trailhead behind Colchester High School and follows a well-defined, gently rolling path through second-growth forest managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. This easy Class 1 route makes a full circuit through mixed hardwoods and softwoods, with occasional breaks in the trees offering brief views of Lake Champlain. Wildlife sightings—especially deer and songbirds—are common along the trail.
Stay on the main loop to complete the route, passing several informal junctions that may lead to side trails or maintenance roads. In wet weather, expect muddy patches and slippery footing, especially in low-lying areas. The trail is open to hikers and mountain bikers, though biking is recommended only in dry conditions. There are no reliable water sources, so come prepared. While open year-round, this area is best enjoyed from late spring through fall when the trail is dry and snow-free. The forested scenery and peaceful setting make this a relaxing option for short day hikes in northern Vermont.
