Yocum Ridge offers fantastic vistas flanked by an alpine meadow high on the western slope of Mount Hood. If you visit during a high-traffic season, don't be discouraged by the amount of people on the trail. Most of the folks you'll see early on the trail are hiking to Ramona Falls, and people will soon be few and far between as you pass the falls and start making your way up toward the remote Yocum Ridge. The beginning of your hike will be the same as the Ramona Falls hike. Youall start by hiking along the Sandy River, then take the River Side Ramona Falls Trail at 1.5 miles. Once youave reached Ramona Falls youall cross the bridge below the falls and head right at the junction to start your ascent along the Timberline Trail. Youall climb a series of switchbacks and travel along the ridge. As you start to finish your ascent, the trail opens up into an alpine meadow with a view of Mount Hood. Once youave stopped to take in the views, you can head back toward Ramona Falls and swing a right at the bridge to take the Creek Side Ramona Falls Trail back toward the trailhead and parking lot.
