Point to Point
Hike up the Laguna Meadow Trail for an easier, yet no less beautiful climb through dense forests to the trail's namesake. Most often, people use this trail as their uphill route to the acclaimed vistas of the Sierra Quemada situated atop the South Rim.
Upon reaching the trail's end, visitors have the option of extending their journey to the South Rim along the Southwest Rim Trail. For less-seasoned hikers, taking the Colima Trail east to the Pinnacles Trail and north back to the parking area is a good option for shortening the trip, while still experiencing the majestic rocks perched cliffside along the Pinnacles Trail.
Be sure to bring at least a gallon of water per person per day in this area, as there is not a drop of water along the route. While drainages appear on the map for this area, water only flows after seasonal rainstorms for a short while before drying up in Big Bend's desert climate.
