From the parking lot the trail starts out at steep but comfortable pace up the hill.
After hearing the water you finally bumps up against Cascade Creek at about a half mile. Continue through thick coniferous forest on a steeper section of trail for the next mile.
Cruise above some open wetlands for the next mile where you get some broader vistas in the valley. Cross the creek and the forest begins to close in again.
Make some switchbacks uphill for the half mile before the trail begins to flatten out. Pass the Table Mountain Trail and you soon arrive at the Lake.
Once you arrive at the lake, even on a busy day there is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy some solitude.
