Buttermilk Falls Loop Trail

The Buttermilk Falls Loop is a beautiful jaunt in the woods. It is marked by a blue dragonfly "blaze" on trail posts. If starting from the Buttermilk Falls Trailhead in a clockwise direction, this direction heads south alongside Buttermillk Creek with occasional tree identification signs. At every intersection, take a right as long as it is not paved. If it is paved go straight. Taking a left at any of the junctions before the bridge will take you to the mostly paved Sanctuary Marsh Loop around a pond. Staying to the right leads you across a bridge as you turn to the west. You'll also cross over a paved All Purpose Trail. On the northeast trending section of the loop, you'll pass two inconspicuous junctions with unmarked singletracks going to the left (these are the Wildlife Management Loop Trail junctions). Continuing along, you'll continue straight at a paved intersection and stay straight. This short section is paved back to the parking area and leads to the overlook of Buttermilk Falls. The North Chagrin Reservation is an absolute gem for northeast Ohio with more than 25 miles of trail. It's easy to go for long hikes without repeating trails. This park provides outdoor recreation for as many people as many National Parks. Be sure to take care of it, and leave it better than you found it.
