Description
This route was used for a weekly informal MTB race where the entry fee was a pint which was consumed at the end of the race. Winner gets first choice from the stash and so on. The trail is marked with blue blazes but some have been stolen. This is the perfect "after work" location, right in the middle of town. Expect to see deer, snakes, turtles, ducks... This is a large network of short trails that can be pieced together to form longer hikes. The trails are fast and flowing with very few obstacles. The park is managed by Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation and the trails are maintained by local hikers. Parking can be found anyplace within the park. The trails cross the paved road and sidewalk at several points so use caution. Most hikers start at the ice rink. Also, no swimming or boating is permitted in the reservoir. This place is a playground for mountain bikers. The trail is easy to follow, and you really can't get lost. Overall, it's not particularly challenging.
