Description
Starting from behind the Kirtland City Hall, you can start hiking southeast alongside a creek. The trail soon crosses over the creek and then starts to climb relatively steeply until you are looking down on the winding creek below. The trail traverses an energy corridor and then hits its best section as it overlooks several bends of the creek in a relatively deep gully. Eventually, the trail joins up with the Rabbit Run Loop Trail. Connecting with this trail allows for an easy extension and longer hikes connecting all of Penitentiary Glen's trails. This is a shared use trail with mountain bikes, so be aware of others and avoid hiking with earbuds in so you can hear them approaching. Be sure to be friendly to everyone else out there enjoying some of Ohio's beautiful public lands.
