Description
An easy to moderate 2-mile hike near Snoqualmie Pass, the Franklin Falls Trail is a perfect hike when you are in the area and short on time. The trail is clear, well-maintained, and relatively level, making it an easy, family-friendly excursion. The 70-foot falls at the end of the trail are actually the final drop in a series, and the view is a great payoff for such a short walk. Late summer low flows provide an excellent opportunity for exploration around the river and the basin, while higher spring flows make for a more impressive view. While the trail is accessible, exercise caution when exploring on the rocks around the falls. These areas can become quite slippery and even icy in the early spring and late fall. The trail is usually accessible from late spring through late fall, when snow levels drop and the trail gets buried for the winter. In the 1860s, the Snowqualmie Pass Wagon Road ran nearby, and youall see a short connecting trail to that historic route just a quarter mile from the falls. You can make a loop of the hike to the falls with a detour down this trail, where evidence of the wagon traffic still remains.
