There and Back
This short out-and-back hike along the Attitash Trail brings you to the summit of Table Mountain, which offers views of Mount Chocorua and other peaks along the Kancamagus Highway. The parking lot is very small (fitting 4-5 cars) and is located off of Bear Notch Road near Bartlett, New Hampshire. Note that Bear Notch Road is closed in the winter months. The Attitash Trail leaves the parking area following a logging road. The trail begins to parallel Louisville Brook and at 0.6 miles reaches a small, ledgy cascade along the stream. The trail continues, crosses a small stream, and ascends more moderately. At the col between Table Mountain and Bear Mountain the trail turns left and climbs more steeply. There is loose gravel on the ledges near the summit that can be challenging on the descent. The trail then reaches a few ledges that provide amazing views to the south and southwest, and eventually reaches its highest point on the summit of Table Mountain at 1.9 miles.
