Baldpate Mountain via Appalachian Trail

This route begins and ends at the Grafton Notch trailhead, after reaching the summit of Baldpate Mountain East Peak. From the parking lot, head east on the white-blazed Appalachian Trail. At 0.1 miles, pass the junction for the orange-blazed Table Rock Trail on the right and continue straight on the Appalachian Trail. The trail climbs steadily through a mixed hardwood forest, passing the side trail to the Baldpate Lean-to at 2.2 miles. Continue climbing steeply over rock steps to reach the summit of West Peak at 2.9 miles. From here, descend 200 vertical feet into a wooded col before beginning the final climb. At 3.4 miles, the trail emerges onto open granite ledges. Follow the white paint blazes painted directly on the rock and climb several wooden ladders to reach the bald summit of East Peak at 3.7 miles. Retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.
