Trail Overview

Bear Paw Road - FS 435 is an easy 1/10, low-use, partially graveled forest service road in the Nantahala National Forest. The route winds through forested terrain and terminates at a small turnaround, providing filtered views of Persimmon Lake through the trees. It is particularly scenic in fall and winter when the canopy opens. The road is typically closed from January through April 1 and reopens in the spring. This quiet, low-maintenance route offers a relaxing drive ideal for solitude and lake glimpses without technical challenges.
